Admittedly, it's Brimming with Nonsense, Extreme Hosting and Psychobabble. However, I Honestly Cherish Meghan's Christmas Special.

No matter the season, it's always fair game for commentary on the Duchess of Sussex's televisual offering, With Love, Meghan. Critics, from seasoned journalists to online pundits, have hardly ever agreed so completely as when gleefully ripping the lifestyle show's initial installments to shreds. The general consensus seemed to be a bigger monarchy-related faux pas had never been witnessed than the now-infamous pretzel re-packaging incident.

Currently, like a merry renegade master, she is back with a new offering with a "Festive Special" (aka a holiday episode). Yet now, it's different. The familiar ingredients audiences anticipate – psychobabble word salads, overzealous entertaining – persist, but set of a Christmas special, suddenly it all makes sense. The puzzle has come perfectly; it's a perfect snow storm.

Now, Meghan is like the eccentric aunt at Christmas celebrations everywhere – providing unsolicited, unnecessary advice, and contributing the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her aura is known and unexpectedly soothing. And she seems happy enough; she's inflicting any harm.

She understands her each tiny facial movement, syllable and look will be picked apart and scrutinized, but manages to seem unburdened and serenely untroubled.

Maybe this is the first occasion in history where that well-worn saying – "Ignore them, they're just jealous" – could actually be true. The reason is, you know what?, each element in Meghan's Holiday Celebration is charming. Admittedly, it's all painfully excessive, silliness and flamboyant – but is that not just what Yuletide is about? And the advice she gives might be laughable, but the example she sets appears to be beautifully curated.

Whatever she attempts, she executes with flair. Her cooking looks tasty, the holiday arrangement she creates is stunning, her presents are almost too pretty to unwrap. Nothing is ordinary or ugly – even the way she ties her apron is stylish and elegant. She doesn't toss a meal in the microwave, it "goes for a spin", and she folds wrapping paper like an craft master. She also seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself throughout. How could any hate-watcher not be won over, overcome by seasonal cheer and left with a deep longing for handmade crackers or a vegetable display where broccoli is organized in the shape of a festive circle?

Meghan was once an actress for a living, obviously, but even so, after the degree of attention she has weathered ever since she started dating Prince Harry, even a hypothetical offspring of Meryl Streep and Judi Dench would have difficulty behaving this authentically. Her decision to alter or even moderate her persona, even though it being so relentlessly, widely parodied, is strangely reassuring. In our unpredictable world, here is something we can rely on: Meghan will be like this, no matter what. We will forever know what to expect with her.

If you're remaining skeptical of what she's selling, a point that will certainly come as a relief: you don't have to. We don't have mandatory conscription these days, and should it be reinstated, it would be unlikely to include watching With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, conversely, you decide to tune in and are gripped with longing about her picture-perfect Christmas, there is hope either. Be you a royal or a everyday person, hardly any child fully understands the dedication and labor their mother expends in December. So you can take heart by picturing her children's faces when they unfold a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a DIY festive calendar, rather than a sweet treat.
