Prosecutors report that a ex- physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
