Real Madrid's Alexander-Arnold May Face His Former Club in Forthcoming Champions League Clash

The English defender training

Real Madrid acquired Trent Alexander-Arnold on a long-term contract

The defender's comeback is moving forward smoothly, giving a chance that the Madrid right-back could recover soon enough to confront his old club Liverpool in November's Champions League tie.

The 27-year-old international suffered a muscle strain during a match against French side Marseille in the initial phase of the tournament on 16 September.

Alexander-Arnold exited the field in the fifth minute, with initial indications pointing to a possible layoff of around six weeks.

Real Madrid will travel to face Liverpool on 4 November for the European match—exactly seven weeks after the injury took place.

Reports familiar with the player's condition suggest that the defender's recovery is advancing positively, and there is optimism that Alexander-Arnold could make his initial comeback to Anfield since joining Real Madrid in the summer.

A devoted Liverpool supporter, Alexander-Arnold earlier stated that leaving the club he joined as a six-year-old youth talent was the "hardest decision he's ever taken."

During his spell with the Merseyside club, Alexander-Arnold made 354 games, helping win multiple English top-flight titles, a European Cup, and the domestic cup.

After his transfer to the Spanish capital, Alexander-Arnold has appeared on five occasions across all competitions, logging over two and a half hours of game time.
