The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, provided by a local firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “six seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
